Seven years ago today, you might have found me at the thrift store. In the boys' department. Looking for grungy band tees and vintage Levis. Don't believe me? Okay, I don't blame you. But I have something even more shocking to share: I still have some of those shirts, and I've been aching to mix them into my wardrobe today.

Through the years, my wardrobe has somehow become more refined. If you peek inside my closet, you'll find a rack full of ladylike skirts, instead of shelves full of worn jeans. Polka dots, ruffles, and pleats have crept in and edged out the... well, the edgier things. But lately I've been thinking more about blending my inner groupie with my outward Minnie Mouse, and these photos are just the inspiration I need.

Hair How-To | 70's Waves for Humid Days

It's that time again! When most girls complain about how big their hair gets in the humid weather, when meanwhile mine flattens away to nothing. Right now, it's starting to get pretty hot and humid outside, and I try to keep my air conditioning off for as long as possible- which means, my apartment isn't much different than the great outdoors. So what do I do about that flat-haired styling problem?

Out of sweaty frustration, I usually twist my hair up into a bun (sometimes simply knotting it to stay secure) and shove a nearby pencil or couple of bobby pins into my locks to secure their place. At this point, my hair is already slightly damp from the heat and humitidy*, and it feels so frefreshing to have it all off my neck.

After an hour or two of refreshing air on my shoulers, I take out the fasteners and let my hair fall down. And check it out! Waves. No other time of the year can I produce wavy hair from these slinky, straight locks of mine. Alright, humidity, maybe you're not that bad after all!

*If your straight hair isn't suffering from humidity, and you also want to get this look, just dampen your hair, or don't dry it completely after showering. Then, wrap up into the bun and allow to dry for a couple of hours before unfurling those wavy locks.

My shopping mishap could be your gain.

Oh, the woes of online shopping. You click the buy button, cross your fingers for a good fit, and then anxiously await the arrival of the purchased item. It can be a pretty nerve wracking experience. Even worse than swimsuit shopping in front of a three-way mirror, as far as shopping anxiety goes. Most of the time my online shopping experiences work out quite well. Thankfully, Etsy sellers list measurements, so the buyers can ensure a proper fit. But stores like ModCloth only have numbered sizes, and they vary so greatly! Which leads me to my current predicament.

I have two articles of clothing I purchased at ModCloth, and waited too long to return them. I was terribly delighted to save up my extra dollars and purchase these two pretties, but when they arrived, the size larges were still not large enough for my large bust. Unfortunately. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is....

Would you be willing to take them off my hands?

Wishful Window Shopping

Summer is sneakily approaching, slow as its arrival might be. I don't mind waiting around for a bit, though. Soon enough I won't be able to do as much layering in the wardrobe department, and outfits will become inevitably a bit less exciting to assmble. But Summer really is the only time I'll justify baring a bit more of my undies to show off the swimsuit I might be wearing underneath my clothes... either off to the pool, or having just come form there. (Who am I kidding? I rarely make it to the pool in the summertime. Sigh.) Wouldn't these suits from Minnow Bathers be lovely peeking out from underneath a lacy vintage camisole cover or strappy sundress? (I am dying for that plaid two-piece above.)

Another way I am planning on spicy up predictable summer ensembles is with the addition of some pretty spectacular shoes. Cheetah is a great print to coordinate with a myriad of other patterns. I used to own a nice pair of cheetah flats, but now I just have one, and its mate has gone missing. I think a great patterned pair of wedges by Jeffrey Campbell replace them quite splendidly, don't you? Especially when paired with one of these darling dresses from Topshop.
