I've got to admit, thinking about this baby's nursery has been the last thing on my mind. Wondering if I had cancer, wrapping up getting life insurance, and trying to stay distracted with work has definitely trumped baby planning around our house these days. Thankfully, we received some great news, and so life continues as normal! Hooray!
So, onto more good news! A week from tomorrow we get to DTS this baby. (DTS = determine the sex) My mom, who was dutifully distracting me from my worries recently, went with me to purchase three boy outfits, and three girl outfits in preparation for DTS day. Of course, after finding such adorable baby girl clothes, I now will be a wee bit disappointed if we discover a little boy growing inside of me- who surely should not be subjected to pink polka dots and bows. But I'm prepared for anything. :)
Besides little baby clothes, my attention is fixed on finding a fun, vintage poster for above the crib. Talk about distracting! You'd never know how difficult it is to find child-appropriate posters with style. But here are our top contenders. What do you think? Again, I'm crossing my fingers for a little girl, because gosh darn if that Funny Girl poster isn't perfect!
OOH, I love the Texas and Zorro posters for a boy's room! You're right, they are a little more challenging to get creative with but I'm pretty sure you're going to nail it no matter what!
That Funny Girl poster is pretty great! I love a yellow, pink, and black combo.
I'm so glad you're sharing this process!

Fun! I love that One Two Three one! We found out our gender yesterday (a girl!!) and my mind is in a tizzy on decorating and what clothes to now hunt for at estate sales! I agree, girls are much more fun to shop for :) Can't wait to hear what you're growing!

Oh I love the "France comes to Texas" poster! So weird and awesome. I feel like a boy's room could be a pretty fun challenge.

oh but little boys are so fond and loving to their mommies :) you will melt

I love Funny Girl :) The movie is not really child-appropriate, but it will be years before your little girl will be asking those questions :)

can't wait to see what you do w/ the nursery!

Hi, so good that everything turned out fine! And about the posters, I guess best 2 are 'funny girl" and 'felix the cat'. There you go, good for boy and girl ! congratulations :-))

so happy to hear that everything is ok on the health front!
but pretty please, remember that gender is socially constructed and that many boys want (and should be allowed to) wear such things. sadly, many get ridiculed (or worse) for wearing pink bows and polka dots due to the kind of gender policing in this post.
as bloggers, we can make a difference and eradicate hate from the lives of our children :)

i'm about 28 weeks along and i'm having a little boy. i've been really thrilled with finding all of the cute and creative boy clothes out there. i've noticed that there are a lot more girl clothes out there, but that means a lot more ugly, overly frilly no fun stuff that you may get showered with. dressing boys seems just as fine.
also, i've been hearing mixed things about hanging artwork over the baby's crib. i'm trying to come up with some safer alternatives.

Allison, you should try using the 3M strips that are heavy duty plastic velcro. You attached them all around the frame, so the frame isnt hanging, but actually sticking flat against the wall. It would be much safer for over a crib!

We find out the gender a week from tomorrow too! Crossing our fingers for a little boy this time as we already have two girls at home :)

hmm, I don't know about doing posters of movies that the baby won't be able to see for many years down the road, like Paper Moon (which I adore that movie by the way), but I think ones like Mickey Mouse and Felix the Cat are really lovely, and it is cool that Netflix instant play has Felix the Cat too. ;)

That's so funny! I just found out I was having a boy and was sad looking at the cute vintage girl clothes, that I had bought just in case!! So silly. I'm totally excited about him now and have since found many cute baby boy outfits (think dinosaurs, monsters, trucks!!!)Love the "France Comes To Texas" poster for a boy or girl. Such a cute idea!

Felix the Cat REALLY freaked me out as a little girl, as in, I had numerous nightmares. Now I think it's great but when I was younger, something about his looks was really frightening to me. So personally, I wouldnt want that one in my kids room, haha. I LOVE the France Comes to Texas one, though!! So sweet and I think it would be great for either sex. Love the Elvis one too

Oh my goodness, I LOVE all of those posters for over the baby's crib! What a cut idea! I absolutely adore musicals so I would probably pick an old musical poster to hang myself. Great idea! Glad to hear you got news, and good luck on DTS day!

I like Funny Girl or One Two Three. Also, Please Don't Eat the Daisies would be cute, but the poster isn't all that great.
Wow, I am so sorry but happy for your biopsy results. Being pregnant and with those worries would be terrifying.
Good luck with baby planning for baby girl!

Are you ok? You've been missed here on the internet and mentions of cancer in those post made me worry...which sounds kinda weird seeing as I don't actually know you and all, but I just wanted you to know that your readers over the pond in England are thinking about you!
