I've known for quite a while that there are two things I have a very difficult time resisting. Pretty vintage clothes, and a good deal. Last weekend at the Canton Antique Expo, I discovered the third thing I can't resist. Apparently, vintage little girls' clothes for a dollar a piece. I mean, can you blame me? The fact that I don't have any near plans for children, much less the certainty of a little girl...? Minor details.
I showed them to Phil and then reassured him that there weren't any cute little boys' clothes, or I would have bought them too. But I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a little girl someday! My mom just told me the other day that she had the grandest time dressing me up and doing my hair. I hope to someday be able to do those fun things with a little darling of my own.
It's so hard to resist kids clothes when thrifting because they're always INSANELY good. I usually find myself wishing they were made in adult sizes. I've crumbled once and bought a small child's navy blue hooded wool capelet with a plaid lining, it kills me how much I love it. Of course it just sort of sits in my closet making me look like a crazy person. My boyfriend gave me a seriously strange look when I showed him.
That pink dress is beyond cute!

I cannot wait to be a mother, but I'm single, so there's no chance of that happening any time soon. BUT... I saw the most perfect little pleated dress and I was going to buy it for my future daughter and then my friend said she'd buy it for my future daughter. It was so cute. So I totally get it. I can't wait to be a mother, but I guess let me focus on finding a good job and building my career, so I can give my future children a good life!

You are definitely not the only one to fall prey to adorable childrens clothing. My friend and Hummingbird Girl Jenny has quite the little stash of sailor outfits for boys and little 60s dresses for her future young ones. And I agree with Olivia, why can't I find such darling things in my own size?!
XOXO

oh goodness. I was thinking about doing a post like this soon because I'm going to be an aunt this summer and have been purchasing loads of vintage little outfits. I wish I found them a dollar a piece though. LOVE LOVE LOVE these outfits. I know someone else who has a little boy and little girl collection of clothes for when they one day marry and have kids so I don't find this to be surprising. If you're planning to one day have children, it is nice to have something ready for them to wear haha.
There are NO cute vintage boy clothes because they really didn't make any. I remember my mom telling me constantly before I had kids how all they ever sold for little boys when she was pregnant with my brothers in the 70s were white shirts and that's pretty much it!
There are tons of cute little boys clothes made today though. I let my sons pick out their clothes though when we go shopping. They'll say things like, "Oh!! I want the robot shirt" or "nooo. how 'bout football." Otherwise so many people bought them clothes and I got so many donations when I was first pregnant that I didn't buy any for them at all.

I have one child, a three year old boy, yet I consistently find myself wanting to buy little girls' clothes. They are too cute, especially all of the pretty little spring dresses out now. I, also, buy one occasionally...just in case.

I have a little boy - I can't tell you how many times I've cursed the lack of nice vintage things for boys! They are adorable, and they'll come in handy one day - there's no harm in being prepared! x

Oh so precious! :)
I can never find any vintage kids clothing, which is probably a good thing as I know I wouldn't be able to resist! :)

Haha, I always have the urge to buy little girl clothes too! Just in case. Zara also has adorable vintage-inspired baby-dresses, they're so hard to resist.
I loooove that pink dress.
