Normally I like to share my scrapbook pages on Wednesdays, but since my camera gave up the ghost, I've been perusing flickr instead. I stumbled on Helena's flickr stream and thought for a moment that she was a scrapbooker. It turns out, she is a textile crafter!
Her work has a sort of modern crafty cottage feel, which is something that I am usually drawn to in paper and textile art. Helena blogs about her crafts and life and also has an Etsy shop where she sells the things she makes. Right now her shop is on vacation, but I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for her return!
Well that's a first; I've never heard of a textiles crafter. I once started a scrapbook using different pictures from flickr I liked, printing them off and sticking them down on paper but I got pretty bored of it easily. As soon as I have some time to spare I might start 'scrapbooking' with fabrics. I'll use sequins and buttons and all sorts. I have actually made a simple storybook for infants two years ago in my textiles class at school, and I still have it. Thank you for this post, I'm feeling very inspired now. Haha. :)

If you like this style and you haven't already heard of her, you should check out dottie angel on blogspot. I thought these pictures were hers until I read your post.

I also thought for certain these pictures came from Dottie Angel. I checked Helena's blog and I have to say the similarities to Dottie Angel's blog (centred text, nickname for her home, artwork) make me more than a little uncomfortable.

I have to say, I just checked out Dottie Angel's work and I think I have seen her home before. I will agree that their styles are pretty similar, but I'm not familiar enough with either of their work to make a thoughtful comment about the similarity being more than just inspiration. Although Kristina, I will admit it is a little startling.

I thought this was Dottie Angel's work too. Way too similar...

I agree with Angie and Kristina....and I explored Helena's archives and can say that I am somewhat uneasy about the similarities....especially when examining consistency - something Dottie Angel definitely has.
