Right now I'm working on a project for school involving the Arts and Crafts movement of interior design. It is fast becoming my favorite era of design, and I'm sure it's not difficult for you to tell why. Just look at the timeless simplicity and bold design of each piece. No frills needed.
The architecture is lovely, but I am especially in awe of the prints, textiles, and accessories from the artisans of the movement. I would love to have an original for my own home. But instead, I just drool over the auction sites.
the yellow has got me trippin! so lovely

Hi Mandi! I love your blog and check it every day :) I just had to comment on Arts & Crafts as it is my very favorite style of interior design & architecture. If you haven't already, check out the magazine "American Bungalow" for inspiration for your project - it's a treasure trove!
Happy Friday! <3

I've always admired Arts & Crafts style of architecture and design, especially the wallpapers that were used back then. The pictures of the prints above are fabulous, makes me want them all!

It's hard to imagine how some A&C pieces were considered untra modern for their time!
THe best part about A&C pieces is that they mix in nicely with all sorts of other pieces. I have several Stickley pieces and so do my parents. Most people do not even notice that they are different in style from the otehrs b/c they mix in so nicely. YOu should seek out a Stickley dealer in your area and visit them - they still use the same construction (or better in some cases) have them give you a catalog as well!

That art is really amazing... wouldn't that be fantastic to just stumble across in a junk shop? *sigh* perhaps someday?

Very cool, Amy! I totally agree that it just mixes in so well with any decor. I would love to find a Stickley dealer. I would love even more to be able to afford its services. :)
