This winter, it's seems that all I want to wear is lace and fur. And sweaters. Big sweaters and sweater tights. I think I could last until Spring.
But I just can't decide how I truly feel about fur... Obviously I love it, or I wouldn't be wearing it so much lately. And I only buy vintage fur... I wouldn't support a business involved in poaching animals and whatnot... but still. I don't eat animals. But I wear them. Ahhhh! I just don't know. I sound like I'm trying too hard to justify wearing fur. What do you think?
To fur, or not to fur. That is the question. Indeed.
On a side note, I've been putting my hair in big rollers again. It seems the past two years I've transformed into a low maintenance just let my hair dry by itself kinda girl. I'd like to stay that way (as long as I don't end up with the sniffles this winter), but I'm really digging the 1960s full bodied look.
Outfit Details:
Sweater: Vintage (thrifted Canton, OH)
Fur: Vintage (Hidden Pearl, CUyahoga Falls, OH)

I WOULD say that if you don't eat animals due to moral reasons, then you shouldn't wear animals...but that coat...oh, that coat! It's just soooooo beautiful! I think I will try and justify it with you for the sake of such a lovely garment...You're not supporting the killing of more animals...since it's vintage and all...
I think it's fiiiine.
p.s. Your hair looks GORGEOUS like that!

I know it's a personal choice, but we cannot undo the past. If the animals were killed in the past, you wouldn't want them to have died for no purpose... hence, justifying vintage fur. Correct?

Very cute! My hometown is Canton! Whoop whoop!

i like faux fur better than real fur most of the time. but in my opinion, if those animals gave their lives, someone needs to enjoy it, right?
and i think your hair looks so pretty like this! i'm growing my hair long for the first time, like, EVER, so i've been trying to figure out what on earth to do with it. lately, it's been blow dry, then straighten a few pieces. i need something new & pretty!

I think this is my favourite Wardrobe Wednesday yet! Terrific outfit and your hair is adorable.
Hmm... I find vintage fur to have a wierd smell that just won't leave... that's my problem with it.
Happy Wednesday!

Love the hair!! And the outfit, as usual. And total fyi... because of YOU missie... I've been stepping outside my 'wardrobe box'. For example, instead of jeans and long sleeve, I added a short sleeve knit sweater aaaaaand jewelry (a long necklace) i'll try to post a pic, but in all seriousness... reading your blog has really inspired me 'fun-it-up' when it comes to getting dressed in the morn.
I LOVE Wardrobe Wednesdays!!!!

You look stunning in your beautiful outfit! I say if you can afford it, wear fur! I still don't know how I feel about wearing fur on myself though. I like it, but I'm always afraid it's too much fur or I'm over doing it. Obviously, I don't want to look like an animal myself!

Gosh! You look absolutely stunning in these photos!

I totally get your ambivalence on this topic. I don't eat meat either, but I have seen some divine fur collars at thrift stores that I seriously considered buying to wear with my cardis. But until you asked the question I hadn't taken time to sort it out in my head, so I always ended up passing by the collars and feeling a wee bit confused about where I stand on the question...Now I have thought it through, and here's what I think:
"New" fur = a big definite NO!
Vintage fur? Different story. What's done is done, and by wearing vintage you're not supporting the heinous fur industry of today.
Your hair is adorable, btw.

I have just discovered your blog and I love it!
Your dress! Your coat! Chic and lovely. And as for the 60s hair - perfect!
I have the same dilemma re: fur. I have this gorgeous 1940s box jacket in my wardrobe that has a fur collar. I absolutely love it. But I haven't been able to bring myself to wear it yet - so many of my friends are very anti-fur (as I am - when it comes to new fur...). However, as it is so old, and recycled, I feel that this should be ok (or I hope it's ok - really, it's just convincing ourselves when it comes down to it!).

I think the problem with fur for me is what is symbolizes, a dead animal. I have one coat with a fur collar that I wear once in a while but I got rid of all the little animal body scarf things (you know what i'm talking about-grannies used to wear em...)and fur jackets.. also, I wear leather shoes because i have narrow size 11 feet and it's impossible to find vintage shoes.. oh well, I'm sure the animals appreciate anything we do... it's more than most people...

i know this post is old, but i just have to chime in what a good friend of mine told me about wearing fur: even if it is vintage, and your money isn't supporting the industry, by wearing fur, you are supporting the look, and thus encouraging people to emulate that style, which only means more fur. i love the look of fur also, and could make a lot of money off of reselling the vintage furs i come across, but i just can't bring myself to be aligned with killing animals for beauty reasons.
***special personal disclaimer, as a bunny owner, rabbit is especially abhorrent. bunnies are intelligent, domestic, caring creatures, that are far over exploited. why people balk at dog fur trimmed coats and not rabbit is really strange once you think about it.
