Raise your hand if you like vintage typewriters. Now keep your hand raised if you actually use vintage typewriters.... That's what I thought. Just a few of us. It's okay, they're pretty to look at. Some people use them for decor these days. I use them for scrapbooking. And if you're super artistic, like little Cathie here, you can even find a typewriter in your favorite hue to match your favorite sweater ensemble!
I rounded up a few fun typewriters on Etsy for your shopping pleasure. Or for your viewing pleasure. Whichever your budget allows.

oh yeah I love old typewriters! this uneven, irregular look... you'll never know if your word will type straight... I am so glad I remembered my parents had one, which I used to write novels when I was a teenager... it's from the 70' I think...
using it all the time!

I have an old typewriter and actually use it ... despite the fact that my youngest has tried on several occasions to dissassemble it. It's not the prettiest, but at $10, I can't really complain. I'm keeping my eyes open for more though!

I have one, and I love it. I just can't use it, as it's impossible to find those ink tapes here in Finland and mine has run out of ink. So I just stare at it and sigh. If I would buy another one, it would definitely be that red one (mine is yellow.)

I also LOVE vintage typewriters--the manual kind. I purchased a funky turquoise colored one for myself last Christmas and I truly do use it all the time in scrabooking and projects. I love the perfectly imperfect type that you get :)And just had to have one that is a cool color, right? I would love to get an orange one though--my fav color. Although finding a Royal Woody one would be terribly sweet!!...and highly unlikey ;)Great post!

My father-in-law worked for Remington Rand and had an incredible collection of old typewriters! I have a couple, but they aren't working so well.
I came across a typewriter museum in someone's shed here in CT. It was so cool!

My sister has one that she lets me borrow... but I think it's about time I get my own. I really like the first one you posted!

My oldest daughter put so many graham crackers and milk into my typewriter when she was little that it is now a "just for show" piece :)

I used to type up my reports on my mom's old 1967 Typewriter that she used in high school. It was so wonderful but I ran out of ink on the ribbon and couldn't find anywhere that sold replacement ribbon. Plus the j always was higher positioned than the rest so I got marked down on papers for it. I think she got rid of that type writer since and now I am a little sad about that. It was really fun to use.

I loooove typewriters. I think I am up to five now, and three of them I use regularly. One of the ones I don't use but hat dot get because I just had to rescue it from some children whow were viciously abusing the keys.... Did you see the post on Strikethru about custom painting the chassis your own typewriter? I am considering a bright lemon yellow for my little Sears...

I have four. Yes, four. All antique, two Underwoods and two Smith-Coronas. And I use both of the SCs.
The others, as you have guessed, are strictly for decoration.

Are these electric typewriters? We have an electric one. I'm one of those people who would love to use an actual vintage one for decoration. But it would be cool to know how to use it too!

Actually, I have been looking for a collection typewriter since last year... i think it is what they represent to me, given the fact that I am a writer and love any activity related to Literature and language.
