In the spirit of Summer reminiscing, I had a quick look through my favorite outfits from the past two Summers. After putting together all of the photos, it struck me that each ensemble is so incredibly simple.
As someone who blogs a lot about personal fashion, it's pretty easy to be constantly looking forward to new trends or prowling for the perfect vintage dress. So often I neglect the items that sit in the rear of my closet, because they're just not new and exciting any more. This Summer I've been sort of bored with my outfit choices for the most part, as if each look I put together needs to be earth shatteringly exciting.
But then I saw these photos - Super simple outfits created from mostly inexpensive thrifted items. Easy peasy! Not amazingly unique, but pretty and comfortable. I'm down with that.
You look great! I love the look with the blue skirt and ankle-strap shoes, and I WANT that fabulous red & white striped dress! Sweet summer simplicity.

Love. :) It's seemed kind of daunting to think about doing outfit posts, lately, myself - but this really puts it all in perspective. :) he he. I think the pieces you find are *so* awesome & paired so well together that they seem more complicated than they are, if that makes sense? :)

I absolutely adore each and every one of these outfits. They don't seem too simple to me! Each has it's own unique, quirky twist that I love so much about your style. I also really enjoy the variety of backgrouds you have used in the photos, the different textures and settings really complement each look.

This post is a great reminder! Most days I'm so unhappy with my wardrobe because I've gone and bought too many dresses and not enough basic items to mix and match. I've really learned my lesson though and am trying to stay away from ever tempting dresses until I get some blouses and pants back into my wardrobe.
Those shorts with the sailor buttons are so amazing!

That long blue skirt you are wearing is lovely. I wish I could find some of those pieces or ones like them. I think a casual comfortable look for summer is the perfect kind of outfit and I couldn't agree more that if it isn't new sometimes I forget about it.

All those outfits are so stylish and beautiful! I especially love the one with the red striped dress.
And I agree 100% with you about inexpensive clothes!

I definitely get what you're saying about feeling the pressure to be crazy different and unique sometimes. I often look at my outfits and think "they're all just dresses with some shoes and a bag!" but then I remember that dresses are what I just really like the wear the most and I try to remember that the dresses themselves are often unique or that I have an eye for finding something pretty that suits me. So I may enviously look at how another blogger or fashionista on the street has mastered layering and wish that I knew how to master it myself but the truth is it's just not me so much. I think you've got great personal style and a real eye for what works for you and it's great to be reminded to embrace all of our own different sartorial perspectives!

I tend to wear simpler things as well. Some sort of tee tucked into a skirt, sandals on my feet and I am good to go. I always get compliments on how put together I look lol. I think it's all about colors and fits that flatter you, and girl, you have got all the covered.

i love simplicity in summer, too. that second outfit with the pattern shirt and red skirt is my favourite - so lovely! i do think all of these outfits are unique, too.

simple outfits like these are some of my favorites - on myself and on others. i think anyone who blogs about personal style in any capacity tends to put on a lot of pressure to kind of one up their own last outfit. i know i do and it's left me feeling uninspired as of late. that, and the heat.

I totally get it. My go-to is a high-waisted skirt and top/scarf/belt. I actually forget about pieces in my closet! But a little rummaging and re-discovering is always fun.

I don't keep up to date at all on the trends so I don't know what is going on out there regarding that, but I always loved your outfits and think that simplicity is the most beautiful.
