Anthropologie Inspiration

Anthro 1

I mentioned a while back that I have been working on a retail design project. There are so many things to consider when designing a store from the ground up, that it becomes all too easy to forget the little details. I've been looking to Anthropologie for inspiration when it comes to designing custom fixtures, unique lighting, and interesting displays. Here are some inspiring examples I found on flickr.

I read somewhere that the average time spent in an Anthropologie store is one hour. That's a pretty high average when it comes to retail stores. But just look at all there is to see! The design invites you to explore. I typically don't enjoy shopping at traditional retail stores, because I like to hunt and search for things as a part of my shopping experience. Anthropologie is the one exception. Oh, I would love to be a visual display coordinator for them someday.

Im sure you will do a great job!

That place can keep me browsing for well over an hour. Obsessed with their displays.

I love this store. Wish I could go more. I remember once seeing in their window display, lanterns made out of coffee filters. It was pretty neat.

Oooh...I love the inspiration! Anthropologie is my favorite store and I go in there just to look at the design! I think I could spend way more than an hour. :)

anthropologie & urban outfitters are my favorite stores in which to just wander around and look and touch. i feel happy to just go there & not even buy anything!
on another note, in that little pic at the top, they've used a bunch of baseboards to create a pattern on a wall. my hubby & i saw that in a local coffee shop here--*all* of the walls were covered in different, bright white baseboards, & i thought it looked really, really cool. we're considering doing that to at least one wall of our bathroom.

I haven't been but I am going at the end of April. From the pictures that I have seen I'm guaranteed to be in their for two hours.

god I love Anthro....

I <3 Anthropologie!

And those pictures are very inspiring!

I used to work at one as a sales associate. We're weren't allowed in the room that had all the visual stuff. It's kind of a safety hazard, lol. The visual people were amazing. I think just being creative and knowing the aesthetic will snowball into tons of great ideas.

the picture are sure inviting, havn't been to one but i think is going to be a great experience.

*sigh* I love everything about that store :)

I took pictures of the lightbulb fixture a while back, I thought it was so interesting! That would be dream job...

that's how they get you - i think in one of my marketing classes (long ago) i once read that the longer you are in a store, the more you are going to buy. could be common sense, but maybe not..i also read recently, that if you pick up and item, you are more likely to buy it, than something you have not held.

Hi
I just wanted to say you have an absolutely lovely little blog here =)
And I share your love of Anthropologie. What a beautiful store.

Take care!

Oh, yummy! :) I have to say, I'm crazy thankful for the internet & its Anthropologie photos, cuz in Vancouver we don't have one, and I've only been in one in my whole life (in Philly - it was gorgeous!) and my hubby rushed me through, or I would've been in there for much more than an hour. lol. (sigh).

My favourite store!

I almost applied for a visual Artist job there - the 2 hour commute would have been rough... Sigh... Dream job!

That is just brilliant! Wish you all the best on your upcoming project! Good luck!
