Closet Space
When I was in high school, I had this genius idea to take the doors off of my closet and design a kick ass built-in-vanity thing that my dad (who wins the best Dad ever award) built and installed for me. All I had left was 2' of closet space and an amish built armoir. Needless to say, most of my clothes ended up hanging in the laundry room downstairs, much to Mom's dismay.
Nowadays, the state of my closet is an odd dormer addition to our home which, in fact, has no insulation. At all. It is absolutely fa-reezing in there! I cannot bring myself to face the frigid little walk in closet to hang up my clothes. As a result, our bedroom has become my closet and I think Phil and I are both ready for some organization. As soon as I kick this illness, I'm up for the challenge. Here's some inspiration for you. And me, of course.

Awesome post! That pink tutu closet was designed by Mary Emmerling and was in a showhouse loft I helped work on for Country Home. If you get a chance Google mary's work - she's amazing. Love this post - need to feel like my racks and unconventional closet are OK:)

Oooh, I love them all! We currently have about 2' of closet space to share between the two of us and an assortment of Army 'outfits' as I like to call them.
Looking forward to the day we have a little extra elbow room for our threads.
As always, looking forward to seeing what you design. And hoping you are back to 100% soon.

My dad built me a wardrobe but it's a bit of a disaster. I should have designed the perfect one first. I feel too bad to tear it down and rebuild...but it's really a necessity. Thanks for posting those pictures, very inspiring. Maybe I'll take a leaf out of your book and tackle it too... Good luck with it :)

I love the photos! I recently upgraded my entire wardrobe, mainly with Ann Taylor, Loft, and Nine West. And now i'm out of room as well. My boyfriend isn't very happy but I earned the money i spent on it, so he's got no room (literally) to talk!

Oh wow, love this closet inspiration. My closet is pathetically small - it drives me crazy!

Oh :D Closets! I used to have a detached closet as well...my room was overflowing with clothes :D
Now my daddy (a handy daddy just like yours) built in 2 closet in my new room...it's splendid!
(btw. braces are gone. red lipstick...brace yourself!)

I'd die to have a walk-in closet anywhere CLOSE to the size of these. heck, I'd settle for having room for a light bulb in mine! These images are very inspiring

I have a closet that is approx. 2 1/2 ft wide. It's just not working for me so I'm considering taking over the third bedroom as a walk-in dressing room. I would like to do it though, without permanently making it a closet- in case we ever need a third bedroom.
these pics have been great to see- thanks!
